SXSW SO FAR! The Blue Aeroplanes, Sony Independent Network!
Other Worldly Contact is kicking names and taking butt this year – or something like that – at the annual SXSW Music and Media Conference. We’re working with The Blue Aeroplanes again and are thrilled about it! We’ve added 5 new songs (unreleased!) that are part of their new album that’s in the can and waiting for some US love. No release date yet, but you can give them a listen along with other Aeroplanes classics. Just check out our media section.
We’re also working with Sony Independent Network (SIN), the independent services arm of Sony International and their fine roster of acts including Nneka, Eva & the Heartmaker, Becca Hollcraft, Cassette Kids, Kashmir and Karnivool. We’ll be posting information about the bands every few days as well as music and their schedules at SXSW. Let’s start with Nneka!
Nneka made her US television debut recently on Late Night with David Letterman. Her new album, Concrete Jungle hit the street on 2/2. A Nigerian/German singer, Nneka reminds us of Erykah Badu, Macy Gray and Bob Marley all rolled into one. Check out Jody Rosen’s Rolling Stone review of Concrete Jungle.
